Register The Livestorm External Activities Types In Pardot
In order to start tracking attendance data as External activities in Pardot, you will need to create a Marketing App Extension and register the External Activity types:
These steps need to be performed by a Salesforce Administrator or a Marketing Setup Administrator on your Pardot instance.
- 1
- Log in to your Pardot account.
- 2
- Create a new Marketing App Extension:
- Navigate to Setup > Account Engagement > Marketing App Extensions and select “New”
- Name your extension:
- Name extension: Livestorm.
- Extension API name: Livestorm.
- Check the box “Active in Automations” to make the data available to use in Pardot (automation rules, segmentation rules, and Engagement Studio programs).
- 3
- Create the Livestorm Activity Types:
- Go to the “Related” tab of your “Livestorm” Marketing App Extension.
- Next to “Activity Types”, select “New”.
- Create the first activity type:
- Activity Name: People registered.
- API Name: People_registered.
- Check the box “Active in Automations”.
- Repeat those steps in order to create the following Activity types:
- Session attended - API Name: Session_attended.
- Session not attended - API Name: Session_not_attended.
- Attendance duration - API Name: Attendance_duration.
- Questions asked - API Name: Questions_asked.
- Messages sent - API Name: Messages_sent.
- Has watched replay - API Name: Has_watched_replay.
- Has watched on-demand - API Name: Has_watched_on_demand.
When creating external activity types in Pardot, ensure that the API name matches the exact name mentioned in this documentation for accurate tracking.
Once this is done, you should have the following activity types created for the Livestorm Marketing App extension:
- 4
- Ensure that you have your Business Unit assigned:
- Go to the “Related” tab of your “Livestorm” Marketing App Extension.
- In “Business Unit Assignments”, make sure that you have the correct Business Unit assigned. If not, click on “New” and add your Business Unit.
Enable The Livestorm / Pardot Connector
After successfully creating the external activities on your Pardot instance, we will now show you how to set up connection between Pardot and Livestorm. To do this, please follow the following steps:
- 1
- Log in to your Livestorm account.
- 2
- Go to https://livestorm.integry.io.
- 3
- On the top right corner, click on Sign in. You will be asked to choose your authentication method: click on the Login to the app button and click on Next. This is just an extra step of security to ensure that you are an authorized user.
- 4
- Scroll down to the section Guided Flows, then select the Pardot flow. Click on Setup. To view the full name of the flow, hover your cursor over the title for a couple of seconds.
- 5
- On the next step, you will be asked to connect to your Pardot instance, using the Host URL and your Business Unit ID.
- For the Host URL:
- Use https://pi.demo.pardot.com if you are using a sandbox environment.
- Use https://pi.pardot.com if you are using a production environment.
- Detailed information can be found in the Pardot API documentation.
- For the Business Unit ID:
- To find your Pardot Business Unit ID in Pardot, go to your Settings by clicking on the gear icon on the top right corner, then click on Marketing Setup > Business Unit Setup.
- Your Pardot Business Unit ID begins with “0Uv” and is 18 characters long.
- Then log into Pardot using your usual credentials. Once you are connected, click on Next.
- For the Host URL:
- 6
- You will be asked to connect with Salesforce.
- Select you environment (Sandox or Production).
- Connect to your Salesforce account.
- 7
- Now the fun part begins! You will be asked to map the fields of your Pardot Prospect with the fields available on the Livestorm Registrant object: for every Pardot field that you want to fill with Livestorm data, select the corresponding Livestorm field. You will also see your own Pardot custom fields in the list, allowing you to tailor the flow to your specific rules and needs.
- 8
- 🎉 Your integration with Pardot is ready to be enabled, all you have to do is click on Save. You will then see the new flow created. Make sure that it is set to active and you are good to go! The integration is activated across all of your events by default, so you won’t have to enable it for each event in the Livestorm platform like for other integrations.
